Mindful Birding Outing in collaboration with the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy Date: Sunday, October 19 Time: 9:30 AM Location: Cassadaga Lakes Nature Park Preserve What is Mindful Birding?
Mindful birding is a gentle, grounding way to connect with nature. Instead of focusing on spotting as many birds as possible, we slow down, tune into our senses, and take time to notice what’s around us—birdsong, movement, stillness, and how it all makes us feel. It’s less about identifying and more about experiencing, making it a calming and accessible practice for everyone. |

Walk with Buffalo Feminist Bird Club Date: Saturday, October 25 Time: 10:30 AM Location: Audubon Community Nature Center, Jamestown NY Are you new to birding and want a beginner-friendly outing? Have you avoided nature activities because you are concerned that your body size or abilities may slow down a group and you will be left behind? Fear no more! Ample Movement director Andrea DiMaio and FBC birder Teresa Vincent will lead us through the Audubon Community Nature Center, on a walk of around 2 miles over varied terrain (meadow and woods, with some wood planking over marshy areas). We will walk at a slow pace, meeting the needs of all group members. Bird habitats will include deciduous trees, open water, and meadow. On previous walks we have seen a variety of ducks, heron, geese, and hawks. There is an observation tower to climb (optional) for a better view. Other interesting trail spottings include salamanders, ghost pipes, and a variety of fungi. It is a diverse and lovely walk with minimal elevation gain. Walk will be family-friendly, but please no pets. Latecomers can catch up if they text the leader that they are running late, and there will be opportunities to leave early if someone cannot stay the entire time.
Plentiful parking in a large parking lot with accessible paved spaces. Carpooling is possible--please indicate interest during sign-up. |

All of the work I do to organize group hikes and other outdoor adventures is done purely on my own time without compensation. I believe that the outdoors should be as accessible as possible for as many people as possible and it is something I do because it is my passion.
If you enjoy what I do and what I offer and you would like to "buy me a coffee" I would be extremely grateful. I cannot live on passion, even though I wish I could. I appreciate each and every one of you and I'm so glad you're here. |
